Using the Mapping Window
See below to get started with the mapping window's functionality -- or speed up your workflow.
Opening the Mapping Window
You can do any of the following to open the mapping window:
- Double-click the Mapper component.
- Right-click the Mapper component and select Edit Mapping.
Mapping Data
Mappers process a stream as rows of data. The mapping window shows the current row. You can map the input fields on the left to output fields on the right. You can drag and drop or map multiple fields automatically. To select the matching method, right-click in the mapping area. You can also pass through the input stream without processing. Or, copy the stream definition.
Transforming Data
Mapper functions provide a drag-and-drop way to execute standard string, date, and math operations. See Mapper Functions for procedures to add mapper functions to a mapping, configure function parameters, and use the graphical editing tools.
Simulating Mappings
See Simulating Mappings to test the results of a mapping with different inputs using the simulator.
Navigating and Editing Mappings
Use the following procedures to simplify your workflow and make your mapping easy to understand:
- Adding Descriptions in Mappings
- Adding a Description for the Mapper
- Returning to a Flow
- Saving a Mapping as an Image
